Solomon Peterson passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Effie Wilson, in Deerfield at 3:10 o'clock Monday afternoon. Mr. Peterson was ninety-two years of age at the time of his death. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Wilson of Deerfield, Mrs. Nola Barr of Lucas, South Dakota, Mrs. Alice McKay of Milestone, Mont., Mrs. Maggie Porter of Port Townsend, Wash., and three sons, Ike Peterson of Modesto, Calif., Frank Peterson of Lexington, Ohio, and Wade Peterson of Kansas City, Kas. The body was taken to Platt, South Dakota, Tuesday evening, for burial. [Southwest Mail and Weekly Post: 20 June 1930, p. 6]

Mrs. Mary S. Peterson, wife of Solomon Peterson, died July 22nd., 1893, after a lingering illness of about ten months. Deceased was born in Ohio, May 23rd., 1842; was married to Mr. Peterson Oct. 27th., 1859; came to Dakota with her husband and family in 1889. She leaves a husband and nine children to mourn her loss, besides a great many friends. She was a member of the Dunkard Church and was resigned to her fate. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church Monday of last week at 10 o'clock, Rev. W.G. Cook officiating. [South Dakota Democrat (Chamberlain): 03 August 1893]
